a Director of Children’s Ministry (Part-Time)

Our church also has a three-year strategic vision for growing younger. A core part of this strategy is actively engaging both new and existing families with children, integrating them into the full life and mission of OBC. This role is critical to our church fulfilling this strategy.

The Position

OBC’s Director of Children’s Ministry is, first and foremost, our primary interface with parents and young families. The ideal person for this position will connect regularly with parents to support & equip them. They will also help integrate parents and families into the life and ministry of the church. Our Director of Children’s Ministry will also implement the major components of our children’s ministry. This includes our weekly Sunday School program, as well as occasional events for families and children.

This position will work under the supervision of the Pastor of Administration and Family Discipleship. This is a part-time position (average of 12 hours a week) with required hours on Sunday mornings, a weekly in-person staff meeting, and occasional events all staff are expected to attend. Outside of these requirements, other work may be completed on a flexible schedule with the ability to work from home and attend some meetings online.

Responsibilities include:

  • Connect regularly with parents to support & equip them. Help integrate parents and families into the life of the church.

  • Ensure parents and families are a prime consideration in planning, communication and implementation of OBC events and discipleship ministries.

  • Implementation of our year-round Sunday School program for children.

  • Oversight of nursery and toddler rooms on Sunday mornings.

  • Planning and implementing regular gatherings of families throughout the year.

  • Coordination of an annual Vacation Bible School program or an equivalent outreach to children and families.

  • Completion of administrative tasks associated with the children’s ministry.

  • Ensuring that all children’s ministry activities are in compliance with OBC’s policies for child protection and safety.

Osterville Baptist Church is looking for someone with:

  • Faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

  • Membership in Osterville Baptist Church (or willing to become a member). 

  • A desire to adopt OBC’s vision for growing younger and the ability to help lead others in this vision.

  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to listen.

  • Proficiency in conveying biblical truth to children.

  • Integrity and maintained confidentiality.

  • 3-5 years of staff or volunteer experience in children’s ministry preferred.
