Building Renovation Conceptual Renderings

Week One

This is Our Story Vision

TO OUR COMMUNITY

OBC has been telling God’s story to the village of Osterville for over 185 years. Community leaders tell the story that we are great neighbors. Updating the front-facing portion of our campus will reinforce both stories! We desire to renovate our campus to create a better welcome to our community.

TO OUR FAMILY

We are a disciple-making church family that enjoys spending time together, so our lobby and multi-purpose spaces will have intentional space for lingering and connecting. We want to tell our family – new and familiar, young and old – we belong together! Our sanctuary will also receive a tasteful redesign with technical updates to help us better celebrate the story of what God has done for us.

TO OUR FUTURE

We want to consider those inheriting the church in the next 30 years! Addressing practical, mechanical needs of the church will ensure they can continue our story. We also desire to invest in the next generation through discipleship by updating our lower level to provide a safe, welcoming experience for young families. The story we want to tell is that we love and welcome them!

Week Two

Since 1835, Osterville Baptist Church has been a beacon on 824 Main Street in Osterville, MA. As a church, we remain devoted to serving our community, but we've encountered issues with our building that must be addressed. In this video, Scott outlines the importance of our renovation efforts.

Renovation Concept

In this video you will see a fly through of the concept Aspen has designed for our renovation project. The Aspen team has put in countless hours of hard work and dedication to bring this vision to life. As you watch the fly through, you'll notice the seamless blend of modern and traditional design elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the cozy seating areas to the elegant lighting fixtures, every detail has been carefully considered to ensure a harmonious flow throughout the space. We're excited to bring this concept to fruition and can't wait for you to experience it in person. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Week 3

In this video, Sharon expresses how Our Story has influenced her as a member of our community. She felt welcomed and loved by our church – and her story is a testament to the positive impact we can have on people's lives.

Week 4

Watch as Dyanne shares her experience of how OBC welcomed her with open arms and made her feel like family. In her testimony, she highlights the importance of having a church family, and how she's excited that we aim to make improvements to our building that will allow members of our community to feel welcome here.

Week 5

In this video, the Kleoppels share their story of how the church has become an integral part of their family. They also emphasize the significance of children in shaping our future. As a family, they made a commitment to be generous and trust God with their finances, recognizing that generosity paves the way for sharing our stories with the next generation.

Week 6

In this video, the Barneys delve into the significance of remaining true to the legacy of OBC, while also looking towards the future of this church. They emphasize the importance of giving generously to OBC, as it serves as a vehicle for worship and an opportunity to give back to God.

FAQ

  • In the past, you may have participated in a traditional “two-fund” building campaign where you were asked to give both to a “General Fund” as well as a “Building Fund.” Our vision for resourcing Our Story applies a different approach. Our Story is a two-year initiative where all giving strategically resources one unified vision and is directed into ONE Fund. We’ll be investing resources into our ongoing church ministries and the first steps of a comprehensive renovation of our facility. These resources will help tell Our Story to our community, our family, and our future. Your generosity enables us to continue and further OBC’s God-sized vision of reaching our neighbors, coworkers and friends with the love of Jesus, right here and around the world!

  • • A One Fund strategy allows everyone from kids, students, and adults to participate in the exciting vision and mission of Our Story!

    • Someone who is new can contribute towards the building, operations, and missions from day one.

    • It allows an individual or family to have a single generosity number to celebrate.

    • We believe the three areas of Our Story are all part of a single vision God has given us to impact our community and world with the love and hope of Christ.

  • We’re asking everyone at OBC to make a two-year commitment to help support telling Our Story, the story of God at work in and through our church family. This commitment will fund our ongoing ministries. It will also begin funding to support a building renovation project that will help us continue to tell Our Story to the community, to our church family and to our future.

  • We are asking for two-year financial commitments to help tell Our Story. This includes regular giving to support ongoing OBC ministry as well as additional giving to help fully pursue the vision God has placed on our hearts. The commitment will run from December 2023 through December 2025. You can update your commitment at any time.

  • You can give toward your commitment using our usual ways to give. You can:

    • Bring contributions to church and place them in the box at the back of the Sanctuary.

    • Mail a check to the church on your own or using your bank’s online bill pay.

    • Give online or schedule recurring gifts at ostervillebaptist.org.

  • One of the goals of Our Story is 100% participation, including you. It’s important for generosity to be a part of our Christian walk at any stage. Jesus commended the widow of Mark 12 for her giving. Though it was far less than others, it represented a significant amount for her.

  • Generosity is one of our core values at OBC. Giving is a critical part of our Christian faith and worship. We want to encourage giving because it is an act of worship that makes us more like Christ. We also talk about giving because it helps build and celebrate a culture of generosity in our faith family.
