Dr. Nick Gatzke, Senior Pastor

Nick’s role at OBC primarily consists of preaching, teaching, leadership, and pastoral care. His number one passion in life is preaching the Bible in a clear and relevant fashion because, through the message of the cross, the Holy Spirit really does radically change lives!

Nick and his wife Amy long to see the reality of Christ and His Kingdom penetrate individual lives and communities in this world of chaos. Jesus’ message provides us with a profound hope and membership into the vehicle of God in this world--the Church. Therefore, at OBC we have a zeal for seeing people grow in their faith, helping them to identify their spiritual gifts and empowering them to use them, and encouraging them in a missional lifestyle that exhorts them to take up their calling as ambassadors of King Jesus in their jobs, neighborhoods and social networks.

Nick holds degrees from Moody Bible Institute (B.A.), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div), and the London School of Theology (PhD). Nick is married to Amy, his partner in life and ministry. They have been blessed with a daughter, Alexa Ivie. In his free time, he loves to read, engage in good conversation with friends, play golf, and to periodically head up to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game.
